Asian Tiger Mosquito
This is one of the fastest spreading mosquitoes in the world native to Asia. First sighting of this mosquito was in Texas in 1985, probably accidentally transported as larvae in scrap tires. Adults are active in woodlands, gardens, and parks during spring and summer. Females bite by day especially at dawn, and are vectors of dengue fever, dog heart-worm, eastern equine encephalities and West Nile virus.
